It runs direct to Monastiraki station in about 42 minutes, and a single ticket costs €9. If you land late at night, take the X95 express bus (€5.50, runs 24 hours) to Syntagma Square, or a licensed taxi at the fixed city-centre fare of €50 by day and €65 between midnight and 05:00.

فندق هيلينيك فايبس سمارت is a short walk from Monastiraki Square, so the metro brings you close to our door. Below you will find each option with times and fares checked in October 2026.

Athens airport to Monastiraki by metro: Line 3, direct

Line 3 (the blue line) links the airport with central Athens without a change. According to the operator’s timetable, the ride to Monastiraki takes 42 minutes, with Syntagma one stop earlier at 40 minutes. Airport trains leave every 36 minutes, every day of the week. On the normal timetable the first train leaves the airport at 06:10 and the last at 23:34.

Ticket: the airport fare is €9 one way, or €16 for a return valid for 30 days. You can pay at the machines and ticket offices in the stations, or tap a contactless bank card or phone wallet at the gate for the €9 fare. After your first validation the ticket also works for 90 minutes on other city metro lines, buses and trams, so you can continue your trip. The standard €1.20 city ticket covers the urban network only, so buy the airport fare at the start.

At the gates: validate your ticket when you enter and again when you exit. With luggage, use the wide gates for passengers with reduced mobility.

Good to know (October 2026): Line 3 is under works from 11 October. From Sunday to Thursday, stations between Panormou and Aghia Paraskevi close at 21:40, and the last direct airport train to the centre leaves at 21:10. Later airport trains run only to Halandri, where the temporary bus X20 connects to Ambelokipi metro station. On those evenings the X95 bus or a taxi is simpler. Check stasy.gr before you travel.

By bus: the X95 express to Syntagma

The airport express buses run around the clock, which makes the X95 the main public option after the last metro. It ends at Syntagma Square, and the ride takes about an hour, longer in heavy traffic. The ticket costs €5.50 for one journey, and you can pay by contactless card or phone wallet when you board. Validate only once.

From Syntagma you have two easy ways to reach Monastiraki: walk along Ermou Street (about 15 minutes), or take Metro Line 3 for one stop, which needs a regular €1.20 ticket because the express ticket covers the bus journey only.

By taxi: a fixed fare to the centre

Official yellow taxis wait at the rank outside Exit 3 of the Arrivals level. Travel to central Athens, which includes Monastiraki, is charged at a fixed fare per car: €50 from 05:00 to midnight and €65 from midnight to 05:00. The fare includes tolls and luggage, and the day or night rate depends on the time you arrive at your destination. It was raised from €40 and €55 in September 2026. The ride takes about 35 to 45 minutes in normal traffic.

A taxi is the simplest way from Athens airport to Monastiraki if you land late, travel with several bags, or share the car. Four adults pay €36 on the metro or a single €50 taxi fare. Ask the driver to confirm the fixed fare before you set off.

Pre-booked transfer with the hotel

If you prefer to settle everything before you fly, add the Hellenic Vibes airport transfer when you book on our website. A partner agency operates it. The fare is €70 per way for up to 3 to 4 people with one item of luggage, with a €10 supplement between 23:30 and 05:00.

In the extras step of the booking you enter your arrival date, time and flight number, so the transfer is arranged for your arrival. You pay the driver directly. It costs more than a taxi from the rank, in return for a price and a pick-up fixed before you land.

Athens airport to Monastiraki: which option fits your arrival

Option

Time to the centre

Cost

Runs

Best when

Metro Line 3

About 42 min direct to Monastiraki

€9 one way, €16 return

Airport trains 06:10 to 23:34 (check the October works)

Most daytime arrivals

X95 express bus

About 1 hour to Syntagma, plus a 15-minute walk

€5.50

24 hours

Late arrivals and tight budgets

Taxi

35 to 45 min

€50 by day, €65 from midnight to 05:00

24 hours

Luggage, groups, late nights

Hotel transfer (pre-booked)

Similar to a taxi

€70 per way, +€10 from 23:30 to 05:00, for up to 3 to 4 people

Arranged for your arrival time

Settling everything before you land

Arriving before 21:00 with light luggage, take the metro.
